Perry County Public Library Serves Community with Three Locations

By Town Vines Staff

The Perry County Public Library has been serving residents since 1917, when the Tell City Public Library first opened its doors. Today, the library system continues its mission with three convenient locations: the main Tell City branch at 2328 Tell Street, the Cannelton branch, and a Bookmobile that brings services directly to communities throughout Perry County.

The library’s main Tell City location offers far more than books. The collection includes 95,298 volumes, and the library circulates 136,779 items per year serving a population of 19,338 residents. Patrons can check out large print and regular print books, magazines, movies on DVD and Blu-ray, video games for Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, audiobooks on CD, and newspapers. The library also provides downloadable books and movies for e-readers, tablets, and smartphones, along with Wi-Fi boxes for those needing internet access.

Special features include a Genealogy Department where residents can research their family history, story times for children, adult programs, and public computers. The Tell City branch is located at 2328 Tell Street, and Director Nathan Jochum oversees operations. The library is open Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with adjusted hours Thursday through Saturday.
