The Perry County Solid Waste District promotes waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and safe disposal of problem waste. Located at 3214 Tell Street in Tell City, the district can be reached at 812-547-9787.
The district provides locations that accept paper, glass, metals, plastics, batteries, electronic items, mercury, paints, oil, insecticides, poisons, and household chemicals. They also accept items such as sofas, mattresses, and other large items.
Recently, in conjunction with the Perry County Highway Department and the City of Cannelton, the Solid Waste District was involved in a large cleanup project located on Sycamore Road, where large items including furniture, TVs, and mattresses were removed from the roadside and properly disposed of. The district serves as an important resource for residents seeking environmentally responsible ways to dispose of items that shouldn’t go in regular trash.
