The Perry County Parks & Recreation Department manages four park facilities ranging in size from 1 acre to 128 acres, located along the Ohio River Scenic Byway on the southern and eastern sides of Perry County. The department is headquartered at 65 Park Avenue in Tell City and maintains office hours Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Park amenities include a scenic overlook of the Ohio River and Cannelton Locks & Dam, two public boat launches, walking trails, shelter houses, and restroom facilities. The department hosts regularly scheduled group hikes for a fun social experience, providing opportunities for residents and visitors to explore the county’s natural beauty together.
The department’s mission is to provide park and recreation facilities that serve the needs of Perry County residents and encourage tourism by developing and maintaining public lands designated as parks. Perry County Parks & Recreation is operated by a full-time Director and a five-member Board of Directors.
Established in August of 1989, the Perry County Parks and Recreation Department undertakes the development and management of recreational facilities within the county that are not governed by other private, municipal or governmental entities.
