The overlook at Cannelton offers a spectacular view of the Ohio River, including the Cannelton locks and dam, from a facility on this bluff called the Eagles Bluff Welcome Center, developed by the Perry County Parks and Recreation Department. The park features a view of the Ohio River and the Cannelton Locks and Dam on a bluff that rises 200 feet above it.
Eagles are often sighted in this area, giving the park its distinctive name. It is now a well-maintained park complete with charcoal grills, picnic tables, and two shelter houses. Amenities available at the park include a scenic overlook of the Ohio River and Cannelton Locks & Dam, walking trails, shelter houses, and restroom facilities.
The Perry County Parks & Recreation Department consists of 4 park facilities ranging in size from 1 acre to 128 acres, located along the Ohio River Scenic Byway (Hwy 66) on the southern and eastern sides of Perry County. The Perry County Parks & Recreation Department is operated by a full-time Director and a five-member Board of Directors.
