These terms apply to free Founding Business listings on TownVines. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. The Short Version
Your basic listing on TownVines is free, and it stays free. There is no card to enter, no trial period and no expiry date.
Founding Business status is something extra, and it is something you keep by staying involved. We ask four small things of you in return. None of them cost money.
2. What a Free Listing Includes
- Your business name, category, contact details and service area
- A description in your own words
- Your logo and up to three photos
- Website and Facebook links, map and directions
- Eligibility to post offers on Vines Deals
- The Founding Business badge, while you hold that status
3. What We Ask in Return
Founding Business status is a two-way arrangement. To keep it, we ask you to:
- Keep your listing accurate. Once a year we will email you to confirm your hours, phone number and details are still correct. Answering takes one click. A directory full of wrong phone numbers helps nobody.
- Display TownVines at your counter. We provide a window decal or counter card at no cost to you. Put it somewhere customers can see it.
- Post one community offer a year. Something small for TownVines neighbours. A free coffee with a pastry counts. It does not need to be a discount that hurts.
- Tell other local businesses about TownVines. The directory only works if it is full. A word to a neighbouring business owner is all we are asking.
4. If You Do Not Keep These Up
Your listing stays. It stays free. We do not remove local businesses from the directory over this.
What you would lose is Founding Business status — the badge, priority placement in the directory, and eligibility to be featured in a Business Spotlight.
We will always email you first and give you a fair chance to put it right before anything changes. If life got in the way, tell us and we will work with you.
5. Businesses Who Joined Before These Terms
Businesses listed before 22 August 2026 joined under an unconditional free offer, and they keep it. These terms are not applied backwards. If you were one of the first businesses to trust TownVines, that trust is not something we intend to renegotiate.
6. What We Commit To
This works both ways. TownVines commits to:
- Keeping your basic listing free
- Never selling your information, and never letting a paid listing outrank a free one in search results
- Giving every listed business a turn in the featured positions, rather than only the newest or the loudest
- Telling you before anything about your listing changes
7. Optional Paid Upgrades
In future we may offer optional paid extras such as featured placement or a larger photo gallery. Nobody is ever required to buy one, and declining will never reduce your free listing or your Founding Business status.
8. Changes to These Terms
If we change these terms we will email every listed business first and explain what changed and why. The effective date above will change. Prior versions are available on request.
