Tell City’s JFK Community Pool in Hagedorn Park will remain closed for the rest of the summer season, city officials announced recently, leaving Perry County families with limited options to cool off during the heat.
After weeks of repairs, Tell City officials announced the JFK Community Pool will stay closed for the rest of the season. Issues were discovered with the lines and drains, and there were some voids forming beneath the pool decking. The city says they are focusing on fixing the pool’s infrastructure so that they can provide the community with a safe, reliable and lasting facility.
The closure comes as a disappointment to local residents who had been looking forward to enjoying the facility this summer. With the heat and the nearest community pool being in another city, residents say the closure is a real concern and are now looking for other places to stay cool this summer. The city’s splash pad remains available as an alternative for families seeking relief from the summer temperatures.
